Grapefruit Has a New Managing Director
The doubling of the Grapefruit team in the past year culminates in appointing a new managing director - Ana-Maria Bogdan - the person behind the digital strategies of ING Bank, Kanal D, Altex, and Zapp in the past few years.
With 12 years’ experience in marketing and digital in some of the most demanding industries - telecom, retail, banking, and media & advertising, Ana-Maria Bogdan will lead the agency from its Bucharest office.
“Because her experience successfully combines digital and marketing - Grapefruit’s two business areas - and because we have always had an excellent relationship, we decided Anda (as we call her) is the right person to lead the agency from now on,” says Ștefan Liuțe, strategy director and co-founder of Grapefruit. “Her professional expertise is complemented by her managerial experience, since Anda has formed and led teams in three major companies before Grapefruit. Her arrival will consolidate the extended Grapefruit team, will bring a deep understanding of the client’s perspective, and will help us increase our expertise in digital and marketing,” explains Liuțe.
Ana-Maria Bogdan is not a first timer in an agency - her career started in 2000 with Ogilvy Interactive, the first internet division affiliated to a multinational agency in Romania. She started out in online copywriting, informational architecture, and client service. Later on, all the positions she held in companies such as Zapp/ Telemobil, Altex, Kanal D, and ING had in common the creation of digital teams.
In her last position as Internet Channel Development Manager at ING Bank, Anda was tasked with developing the online business strategy for the bank, coordinating a digital team to generate sales leads, launching the second version of the Home’Bank interface and la mobile banking service. The vision, flexibility and consistency demonstrated by ING’s digital strategy earned the bank three awards in 2010.
Ana-Maria Bogdan was also behind the launch of a number of corporate and product web sites for Zapp, Evenimentul Zilei, Prima TV, Kanal D, and a platform for electronic commerce for B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) sales for Altex and Media Galaxy. For four years, she has coordinated the development of the ZappMobile mobile portal, which offered real time content and integrated web-SMS services, all premieres for the Romanian market at that time (2001-2003).
Ana-Maria Bogdan holds an Executive MBA from the University of Sheffield with a specialisation in change management, and has graduated from two Master programs in communication and public relations. Since 2006, Ana-Maria Bogdan has been a member of the managing board of IAB Romania.
After being a client of Grapefruit for four years, Ana-Maria Bogdan says it is the personality match that brought her and her former agency in the same office. “We share more than the professional results achieved by the projects with ING and Kanal D. We are inspired and driven by the same things, we have a shared vision about the future, we enjoy talking about the same things and we spend our leisure time the same way.”
