Client
British Council is an apolitical international organization based in Great Britain which establishes long-term cultural and educational relationships with over 220 cities from 110 countries around the world, including Romania. With activities mostly in the education, civil society and creativity areas, the organization offers people everywhere a chance to get in touch with British creativity and cultural achievements.
Problem
Trough the UK-SouthEastEurope Forum, British Council launched, in 2005, the “Creative Cities” program, with “Creative Industries” as its theme. An international program, implemented at city level, it promotes creative ideas and offers social and economical revival examples through the creative industries.
One of the first steps taken was to choose a representative city, which in Romania’s case was Iaşi. Using the success stories identified here, British Council advanced a mapping of the local creative industries.
Solution
From the very beginning, Grapefruit was involved in this program through active participation in lectures and workshops in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Bailiffscourt (UK).
In collaboration with Rofilco (www.rofilco.ro), another local successful creative company, Grapefruit gave advice during the mapping process and designed the visual identity, website (www.industriicreative.ro) and the Creative Industries guide for Iaşi.
More to it, at the guide launching, Marius Ursache, Chief Creative Officer at Grapefruit, gave a presentation on globalization, copyright laws and the competitive advantages in the context of the creative and cultural industries.
